Counselling and Clinical Hypnotherapy: What You Need to Know

Hypnotherapy involves being put into a trance state and your subconscious mind opening up to the positive suggestions that the therapist plants. Counselling involves discussion with your therapist to explore and work through your issues, eventually coming to your own resolutions.

As a therapy, hypnosis is usually much shorter-term than counselling, as it’s usually done in just a few sessions – or even one single session in some cases.

Hypnotherapy can be used for:

* Anxiety

* Stress

* Addictions

* Fears and phobias

* Anger management

And much more.

Counselling and hypnotherapy A lot of people who come to me want to be able to talk about their issues, AND they also want to resolve them as quickly as possible. When counselling and hypnotherapy are combined, I find they can create a very powerful mixture.

Counselling provides that safe nurturing space in which they can freely explore their emotions, and hypnotherapy helps us to bypass the busyness of the conscious mind and get to the root of the issues, in a deeply relaxing way.

Now, as always, there are some exceptions. Sometimes counselling is briefer and more solution-focused (e.g. CBT), and sometimes hypnotherapy can be done over a longer term (e.g. hypno-analysis). And, as I already mentioned, every therapist has their own way of working.

In this video, we’ll discuss what counselling and clinical hypnotherapy is and what it is used for. We’ll also give you an overview of the different types of counselling and clinical hypnotherapy, and talk about some of the benefits it has to offer.

My own way of working often includes a mixture of different therapies, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EFT Tapping, and NLP, as well as counselling and hypnotherapy. I tailor my style to each client to ensure they get the most effective kind of help possible.
